Adding the Navigation Button

Note: You can only add the navigation button when you build a quiz from scratch or select the List Building or Social Share templates.

To add a navigation button to the quiz, open your WordPress admin area, navigate to Thrive Dashboard -> Thrive Quiz Builder, and click the Edit Quiz button on the quiz you want to edit.

On the Edit Quiz page, click the Change type button in the Quiz Type box.

When you click Change Type, you’ll see a popup where you can select the Quiz Evaluation type. This is where you need to select what the result of the quiz will look like.

After selecting the Evaluation type, click the Continue button.

You’ll see further Quiz Settings in the popup when you click Continue. These settings include a toggle button to enable the quiz navigation button.

To enable the navigation button, click this toggle button to Display navigation buttons.

Note: You can enable the navigation buttons only when you select to load the next question after a user has responded to a question.

After you enable the navigation buttons, click Save.

Save User’s Quiz Progress

When you enable navigation buttons on a quiz, the only fear is whether the user will lose his answers when he navigates to the next or previous question.

Similarly, logged-in users can resume the quiz when they open the page on which it is presented.

To save users’ progress in a quiz, open the page to which the quiz is added in the Thrive Architect editor and click the quiz on the page.

Under the Quiz options in the left column, click on the toggle beside the option to Save the user’s quiz progress.

After you are done making the required changes, click Save Work.

Displaying User Progress While Navigating

The Thrive Quiz Builder lets you display a progress bar alongside the quiz questions so users know how far they’ve reached in the quiz.

This step highlights how many more questions remain and can often increase the engagement of your quiz.

To enable the progress bar, open your WordPress admin area, navigate to Thrive Dashboard -> Thrive Quiz Builder, and click the Edit Quiz button on the quiz you want to edit.

After you click edit, you’ll be taken to a page where you can change the quiz type, style, and other factors. On this page, scroll down to the Quiz Structure box and click the Manage button under Questions.

Once you click Manage, the questions will open in a new tab. On the questions page, click the Quiz Settings icon in the top right corner.

When you click the settings icon, you’ll see the Quiz Settings open in the column. This is where you click on the arrow beside Progress Bar.

Clicking here will open a popup with Progress bar settings. This popup displays a toggle to enable a progress bar for the quiz.

To enable the progress bar, click the toggle.

When you click the toggle to enable the progress bar, more progress bar formatting options appear in the popup. These options will let you:

  • Set the font size of the label
  • Select the type of progress bar
  • Set the position of the progress bar
  • Set the label text
  • Manage colors for all these options

After completing the progress bar settings, click Save.

We’ve just seen how you can enable the navigation button for a quiz built using Thrive Quiz Builder, save the user’s quiz progress when logged in, and enable a progress bar for the quiz.
