How to Test Your Thrive Ultimatum Campaigns

Before launching a scarcity campaign to your live audience, it is highly recommended to test it to ensure the countdowns, triggers, and lockdown pages work as expected.

Testing Fixed Date Campaigns

Fixed date campaigns are the easiest to test.

  1. Create a campaign with a start time 5 minutes from now.
  2. Open your site in an Incognito/Private window.
  3. Wait for the start time and refresh the page to see if the ribbon/widget appears.
  4. Wait for the end time to verify it disappears.

Testing Evergreen Campaigns

Evergreen campaigns are unique to every visitor, making them slightly trickier to test.

Testing Recurring Campaigns

If you have created a recurring campaign, with the “Lockdown Feature” enabled, you can see how to properly test it, in the video below:

Tips for Testing

  1. Use Incognito Mode: Your browser stores cookies that track your evergreen timer. To look like a “new” visitor, always use a fresh Incognito window for every test.
  2. Reset Your Data: If you are testing while logged in, you can use the “Purge Cache” or “Reset stats” options in the campaign dashboard (though Incognito is more reliable).
  3. Check the Trigger:
    • If your trigger is “Visit a page”, visit that specific page first.
    • If your trigger is “Sign up”, use a test email to sign up.

Testing Lockdown Pages

If you are using the Lockdown feature (where expired links redirect to a “Sorry” page):

  1. Trigger the campaign.
  2. Grab the “Promotion Page” link.
  3. Manually fast-forward your computer’s time (advanced) OR just set the campaign duration to 15 minutes for the test.
  4. Wait for the timer to expire.
  5. Refresh the Promotion Page. You should be redirected to the “Expired” page.
