How to Migrate from Legacy Themes to Thrive Theme Builder

In this guide, you’ll learn how to transition from a legacy Thrive theme to Thrive Theme Builder, our modern, powerful theme solution. Whether you’re using FocusBlog, Luxe, Ignition, or any of our other legacy themes, we’ll walk you through the migration process and show you why upgrading is the best choice for your website.

Themes Affected

The following legacy themes have been deprecated as of June 1st, 2022:

  • FocusBlog
  • Luxe
  • Ignition
  • Minus
  • Squared
  • Voice
  • Performag
  • Pressive
  • Storied
  • Rise

If you’re currently using any of these themes, this guide will help you migrate to Thrive Theme Builder.

Understanding Legacy Theme Deprecation

As of June 1st, 2022, Thrive has deprecated its legacy themes. This means we’ve shifted our focus entirely to Thrive Theme Builder, which offers superior functionality, better performance, and ongoing support.

What This Means for Your Website

If you’re currently using a legacy theme, here’s what you need to know:

Your website will continue to function. Deprecation doesn’t mean your site stops working. Your traffic will keep flowing, and your conversions will keep happening. However, here’s what will change going forward:

  • Legacy themes will no longer appear in Thrive Product Manager
  • WordPress compatibility updates will no longer be published for legacy themes
  • Security patches will not be applied to legacy themes
  • Support for legacy theme-related issues will no longer be available

The good news? Migrating to Thrive Theme Builder is easier than you might think, and you’ll gain access to a vastly superior platform.

Why You Should Migrate to Thrive Theme Builder

Thrive Theme Builder is the modern evolution of Thrive’s theming solution. It offers:

  • Advanced Customization: Build and design your site with complete control

Step-by-Step Migration Guide

Step One: Prepare Your Site

Before you begin the migration, take these preparatory steps:

  1. Back up your website. Use your hosting provider’s backup tools or a WordPress backup plugin to create a complete backup of your site.
  2. Document your current setup. Take screenshots of your site’s layout, colors, and any custom settings you’ve configured in your legacy theme.
  3. Review your content. Make sure all pages, posts, and media are up to date.

Step Two: Install Thrive Theme Builder

Once you’re ready, follow these steps to install Thrive Theme Builder:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
  3. Search for “Thrive Theme Builder.”
  4. Click Install Now, then Activate.

For detailed installation instructions, see How to Install & Activate Thrive Theme Builder.

Step Three: Access the Theme Builder Editor

After activation, you can begin using Thrive Theme Builder:

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Thrive Theme Builder (you’ll see this in your left menu).
  2. Click Start Building to access the editor.

Step Four: Customize Your Site

Now comes the fun part—building your new site:

  1. Use the drag-and-drop editor to customize your homepage, blog layout, and other pages.
  2. Apply your branding (colors, fonts, logos) to match your previous design.
  3. Recreate any custom sections or layouts from your legacy theme.
  4. Test your site across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Step Five: Migrate Your Content

Your existing pages and posts will automatically carry over, but you may need to adjust some formatting:

  1. Review each page in the new Thrive Theme Builder editor.
  2. Update any custom layouts or styling that may have changed.
  3. Test all links, forms, and interactive elements to ensure they work correctly.

Step Six: Go Live

Once you’re satisfied with your new site:

  1. Make sure all changes are saved.
  2. Test your site one final time on different browsers and devices.
  3. Update your DNS or domain settings if needed (your hosting provider can help).
  4. Monitor your site for the first 24 hours to ensure everything is working smoothly.
