How to Add Scripts to a Website Using Thrive Themes
If you want to insert scripts on a post or page from your website, you should know that there are a few ways in which you can do that. This is because the way you insert a script on a regular page is different than the way you insert a script on a landing page. Also, the process depends on whether you want to insert the script on a single page/post or on all pages/posts.
Insert Scripts on Regular Pages
If you want to insert scripts on a single page, follow these easy steps.
First, go to the list of posts or pages and look for the one you want to insert the scripts into. Then, click on the "Edit" button:
Scroll down through the options until you see "Thrive Theme Options":
In the menu from the left side, go to "Custom Code" and click on it:
This will open a section with the fields where you can insert your scripts into: Header Scripts/ Opening Body Scripts/ Body Scripts:
If you need more information about this, make sure to check out this article.
Note: Please note that if you want to add a script to one of your posts, you can use the same steps as described above. This is because the process of adding scripts to posts is exactly the same as the process of adding scripts to regular pages.
Keep in mind that the scripts you add here, in the single page/post level, will only be applied to the specific page/post you are adding it to. If you want to add a script to all of the pages/posts, follow the steps from the next section of the article.
The process of inserting scripts to all your posts or pages is just as simple. In your WordPress Admin Dashboard, go to the menu from the left side. Scroll down until you see "Thrive Dashboard" and hover over it:
Then, click on "Theme Options":
A page with the theme options will open. From the menu on the left side, click on "Analytics/ Scripts":
This will open a section with more fields, where you can insert the script to. You should add the script to the field that corresponds to the part of the pages/posts where you want the script to be.
If you want to find out more about this, make sure to read this article. It also includes an example of how to set up Google Analytics using this method.
Note: It is important to know that the scripts you add here, in the "Analytics/ Scripts" section, will be added site-wide, but only on regular pages/posts. They will not be used on the pages that use a Thrive landing page template from Thrive Architect.
If you use Thrive landing page templates on your pages and you want to add scripts to those landing pages, you will need to add the scripts directly into the page, when editing it with the Thrive Architect editor; or in the scripts manager in the Thrive Dashboard, if you want to add the scripts site-wide for all landing pages. Both of these processes are showcased below.
Insert Scripts on Landing Pages
Single Landing Page
Just like in the case of regular WordPress posts or pages, you can insert scripts in landing pages as well. The process is a bit different.
If you want to insert scripts on a single landing page, follow these steps:
In the Thrive Architect editor, click on the gear icon from the right sidebar:
The "Settings" menu will open. Click on "Advanced Settings":
Then, choose "Custom Scripts":
This will take you to a window with three fields. This is where you can insert the scripts:
You can find out more information about this in our Knowledge Base article.
All Landing Pages
Lastly, you can insert scripts to all the landing pages. If you want to do that, first go to your WordPress admin dashboard. Scroll down through the menu from the left side until you find "Thrive Dashboard" and hover over it:
Then, from the list that opens on hover, click on "Thrive Dashboard":
This will open a list of the Thrive Products you own, as well as some Thrive Features. Scroll down until you see the “Analytics & Scripts” card:
Click on "Manage Scripts". You will be taken to the page where you can add new scripts to your landing pages, or manage the existing ones:
To add a new script, click on "Add New":
This will open a pop-up:
- a - Script: This is where you have to insert the script
- b - Script Label: You can provide a label to the script, simply write it into this field
- c - Choose Placement: Click on this field to open a small dropdown, from where you can choose the placement of the script:
When you're done, click on "Continue":
The script will now appear on the "Analytics & Scripts" page:
