How to use Image optimization in Thrive Themes

 Important!

Please note that our Legacy Themes have been replaced by new Thrive Theme Builder Themes. While our Legacy Themes are still functional, we are no longer actively developing them. This article explains why the Thrive Theme Builder themes don't need fixed "Featured Image" sizes.

Why to use image optimization?

Image optimization is very important because the speed in which your website / pages are loaded is essential for the visitor’s first opinion. If you have huge pictures on your page and the bandwidth of the visitor is limited then your visitors have to wait until they are loaded. This can induce the visitor to leave your site immediately.

So, the image optimisation’s secret is to reduce as much the size of the images without major quality loss of them.

How to enable Image Optimization with Thrive Themes?

From the WordPress sidebar go to Thrive themes >> Thrive options >> Performance. There you have three possibilities for Image optimization: “No compression”, “Lossy Compression”, “Lossless Image”

No compression

As it says, the “No compression” option will disable the compression and use the images with their original size and quality.

Lossy Compression

“Lossy Compression” will optimize the images by reducing slightly the quality, in an almost unobservable way, and reduces their size dramatically.

Lossless Image

This option keeps the images quality, but slightly reduces the size of them.

Note: The process is automatical after you set up this option every uploaded image will be optimized how you set up in the Thrive Options. The pictures you uploaded before applying the change won’t be compressed.
