How Incoming Webhooks Work in Thrive Ultimatum

Incoming webhooks allow you to trigger an Evergreen Campaign for a specific user based on an event that happens in a third-party system (like your email marketing platform).

Why use Webhooks?

Standard triggers like “Page Visit” or “Form Subscription” happen on your website. But sometimes, you want to start a campaign based on user behavior inside your email funnel.

Example Scenario:

  1. User signs up for your list (Day 0).
  2. You send them a sequence of educational emails.
  3. On Day 5, they click a link in your email to “Learn More” about a specific topic.
  4. Your Email Platform (e.g., ActiveCampaign) applies a tag “Interested in Topic A”.
  5. This tag triggers a Webhook that tells Thrive Ultimatum: “Start a 48-hour discount campaign for THIS user now.”

How it Works

  1. Thrive Ultimatum: You generate a unique “Webhook URL” for your campaign.
  2. Email Platform: You set up an automation to “Post” data to that URL when a specific event happens (e.g., Tag Applied).
  3. The Trigger: When Thrive Ultimatum receives that signal, it starts the countdown for that specific subscriber.
  4. The Email Link: You send an email with a special link (generated by Thrive Ultimatum) that allows the user to see the countdown on your site.
