Common questions

Here are some common questions/issues and answers related to Thrive Automator:

Question: I’m looking for a specific trigger or action but I can’t find it in Thrive Automator, where is it?

Answer: There are a few different reasons why this situation might occur. Here are some of them and how to fix the issue:

  • Your plugins might not be updated. In this case, you need to update the Thrive Automator plugin, as well as all other Thrive Themes products, to ensure that the triggers and actions associated with all Thrive Themes plugins (Thrive Architect, Thrive Apprentice etc.) are all available.

  • If actions or triggers are missing from the automation canvas, you should be aware that the actions depend on the previous action/trigger.
Each action needs to contain different parameters/sets of data in order for it to be executed.
Therefore, you should always make sure that the action you want to set up contains the necessary parameters.

You can read more about this here.

  • If actions or triggers that are related to specific Thrive Themes plugins are missing (for example, you are not able to see any Thrive Apprentice triggers/actions), please check if the plugin is installed and activated.

Issue:

I have tried to use Thrive Automator with the “Send Webhook” action, but the webhook action data is not received/is rejected by the third-party service.

Solution:

  • Please make sure that third-party service response guidelines are taken into account when you send out the webhook data.
Pay attention to what kind of format/fields etc. the third-party service requires. Here’s a full walkthrough that showcases how to send webhook data to a third-party service.

Question:

Can I integrate Thrive Automator with my own service/platform?

Answer:

Yes, using the “Send Webhook” action, or the “Incoming Webhook” trigger, you are able to connect to any third-party platform (as long as the platform supports incoming and outgoing webhooks). Here are some useful examples:

We also advise you to reach out to the support team of the service you are using and confirm if they support webhooks.

Question:

What if the service that I am using does not support webhooks?

Answer:

  • In this case, you can reach out to the support team of the service you want to use and recommend that they build an integration between their service/product and Thrive Automator.

As a developer, you are able to extend Thrive Themes capabilities by developing custom actions/filters/triggers/apps etc. You can read more about how to do that in this developer documentation article.

Question:

How can I send my users an email notification (containing the login information) once a user is created using the “Find or create user” action via Thrive Automator?

Answer:

  • If you use Thrive Apprentice together with Thrive Automator, the users will receive an email once they create a new account.
You can customize the email to be sent to the user once their account has been created, find more information here.

  • Even if you are not using Thrive Apprentice, the newly-created user will still receive the default WordPress email that provides the user to set up a password from within the website.

Question:

Why can’t I see my email service when I use the “Add to autoresponder” action?

Answer:

  • If the email service is not included in our supported API connections, you will not be able to use it from the “Add user to autoresponder” action.

  • You will also have to access your API Connections section from Thrive Dashboard and connect the service, following the steps presented in the tutorials we have created for each service.

  • If you want to create an integration to a new service, for which we haven’t yet created a direct connection through API, you can fill in this form and our team will review the request.

  • You can also reach out to the service and have them build the API integration for Thrive Themes.

  • However, if the service supports webhooks, instead of using the “Add user to autoresponder” action, you can use the “Send webhook” action in order to send the email and tags received by an email service’s webhook.
Here’s an example of connecting your Thrive Themes account to a service for which we have not created a direct integration.
