Thrive Apprentice 4.0 has just been released! Check out this blog post to see what changes will be applied once you update. |
Surely, the process of switching from a learning management system platform to Thrive Apprentice can seem long and troublesome, but you can use this article as a checklist and make sure that you’ve got everything in place.
Migrating to Thrive Apprentice Checklist |
☑ Create the content in Thrive Apprentice ☑ Create your online school design ☑ Create the product with the course/course package ☑ Set up access requirements and access restrictions rules ☑ Set up the drip schedule ☑ Set up the login process ☑ Import your old customers |
→ Create content in Thrive Apprentice
As a first step, you can go ahead and start creating. You can focus on adding the content first, and only after that, you can jump into the design part and all the other aspects.
Thrive Apprentice is now a fully visually editable tool, which will allow the full customization of your online school.
However, before going into all that, you can create your course/s, set up their basic options and start adding the content.

Once all the content has been set up, the content and resources have been added, you can move on to the next step.
→ Create your online school design
A big part of creating a course that stands out lies within the way you’re presenting it to your audience. Thrive Apprentice has a huge advantage here – it will allow you to fully customize the visual part of it.
You are able to create lesson/homepage/course and module templates, that you will later apply to your content. Those templates can be customized as you wish using the Thrive Editor. More than that, you can also create templates to apply to restricted course/site content.

Once the design and templates are ready, you can create the product (in case you want to sell multiple courses/a singular course alongside other types of content).
→ Create the product with the course/course package
This is, of course, optional, but it will help you organize the courses or course bundles, as well as let you choose the desired drip schedule/access restriction rules, in case you’re trying to use these features on your courses.
Get started with creating products by reading these articles:
Under the “Products” tab, for each product that you create you are able to set up its content (courses & other content types), drip schedule and access requirements and access restriction rules.
→ Set up access requirements and access restrictions rules
In case you want the course to be restricted and be available for certain users only, you can set up the access restriction rules.
You can create paid courses or just free ones that are available on a subscription basis, for members only.
Here are the resources that will help you set up the access restriction rules:
→ Set up the drip schedule
Dripping content is important in case you don’t want to release all of the course content at a time, but to gradually grant users access to it.
If that’s what you’ve envisioned for the course, you can go ahead and start creating drip schedules that can be later assigned to the product selling the course.

→ Set up the login process
Another important step here is setting up the login & registration process, as this will be crucial for your user experience. Make sure to set up the login & registration page, as well as the email templates. Here are some useful links:
→ Import your old customers
In your Thrive Apprentice dashboard, you’ll be able to access the “Customers” section to import all of your students. You can either import a CSV file, or manually add them.
