Boost Your Next Affiliate Promotion

The third strategy works like this: in order to promote a product, you write an email for your subscribers, as you usually would. But then, instead of linking them directly to the offer you’re promoting, you link them to a landing page with the following elements:

  • A large headline with a benefit statement or a curiosity statement.
  • A video.
  • A short summary of the main reasons why you recommend the product.
  • A big, fat link or button (this is where your affiliate link comes in).

The simplest way to do the video for this page is to make a “talking head” video of yourself talking about how you used the product, what results you got and why you recommend it.


You can also go a bit more advanced and make a nice presentation with a screencast demo, slides to present your results etc.


The emphasis for this page is more of a personal experience and recommendation than a product review.

Why this Strategy Works 

Presumably, your subscribers are familiar with you and they have some level of trust in you. If you link them directly to a sales page for a product you recommend, you are sending them into unfamiliar territory, where this trust factor doesn’t come into play.


By sending them to your own landing page with your own video on it, you’re accomplishing 3 things:

    You’re showing them a familiar face first and building more trust in the product.
  2. 2
    You’re showing that you’re serious about the product you’re recommending. Anyone can drop a link in an email, but providing a video with your opinion and experiences with a product takes more.
  3. 3
    You’re segmenting and warming up your audience.

What you’ll see with this strategy is that you get fewer clicks on your affiliate link, but you’ll get a far higher EPC. In other words: instead of sending many lukewarm clicks, you’re sending fewer, but scorching hot clicks to the affiliate offer.
