Do you want to customize your heading styles to match your website’s look and feel? You can do that using the panel settings available in Thrive Architect.
Before we begin, please ensure you have inserted a heading on the page that you want to style.
In this article, we’ll see how you can style and customize the headings on your page built using Thrive Architect.
To open the Heading styling options, open a page in the Thrive Architect editor, select the text you want to edit. This will display a floating panel with the Panel options.
The Heading option will show the Heading level applied to the selected text. To make changes, click on the Heading settings. Clicking on Heading settings will open two tabs: Default and Custom.
Default Heading Tab
Under the Default tab, you can select the level of the Heading tag you want to apply to the selected text.
When you hover over the Heading level, you’ll see a sub-menu with the following options:
- Apply Heading
- Update Heading to Match
- Reset Style
When you select Apply Heading, you’ll see the heading applied level being applied to the selected text.
When you click Update Heading to Match, it will match the formatting of another same level heading that you may have customized.
Note: The “Update Heading to match” option works on a website level. Therefore, not only the headings of that type from the respective page will be updated, but also every heading of the same type from the other simple pages, as well as from the posts of your website.
However, this does not include Landing Pages, because they work separately. If you use the “Update Heading to match” option on a simple page, the headings from the Landing Pages will not be updated.
Also, the “Update Heading to match” option, used on a Landing Page will only work on a page level. Landing Pages have their own typography settings, suitable for their design, so they do not use the default typography settings. This is why when you use the “Update Heading to match” option, the changes/updates will only be applied on the headings of the same type from the respective Landing Page.
When you click Reset Style in the sub menu, the heading will go back to its initial appearance.
When resetting the style of a heading type, all the other headings of the same type will regain their initial appearance, inherited from the theme.
The Reset Style option works, not only when you have previously used the “Update Heading to match” option, but also if you have changed any of the default settings for headings (font, size, color, etc.) from one of the options listed below.
- the Typography Settings in Thrive Theme Builder Theme
- Or from the “Appearance” → “Customize” → “Fonts” section of your WordPress admin dashboard (if you are using a different theme).
Note: Used on a simple page or on a post, the “Reset Style” option will be applied on a website level. This means that it will reset the style of all the headings of the same type, from every simple page and every post on your website automatically (except the ones found on Landing Pages).
When used on the headings of a Landing Page, the “Reset Style” option will only be applied on a page level, therefore the reset will happen only for the headings of the same type from the respective Landing Page.
Custom Heading Tab
The other tab with the heading options is the Custom tab. With this tab, you can save the style of your heading and use it later, for other headings as well. Naturally, first, you should customize the heading, to have the style that you want to save.
After you have customized the Heading text, go to the Panel options, click on the section with the heading and select the Custom tab, from the drop-down that opens.
Within the Custom tab, name the style, and click the Save button.
This will save the heading style with the given name.
So, the next time you select this heading and click the heading settings in the panel, you’ll be taken to the Custom tab and the custom heading style will be highlighted – since it is this one that is applied to the text.
We’ve just seen how you can apply default styles to a Heading using Thrive Architect and how you can customize it as needed.
