This guide explains how to use the Content Locking feature in Thrive Leads to hide parts of your content, which can only be unlocked when a user subscribes to your email list.
Step 1: Create and Configure the Leads Shortcode
First, you need to create a new Leads Shortcode and enable the Content Locking feature.
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Thrive Dashboard > Thrive Leads.

- Scroll down to the Leads Shortcodes section and click Add New.

- Give your shortcode a name.

- Activate the Content Locking toggle for the new shortcode. This will modify the shortcode to enable the content locking functionality.

Step 2: Customize the Opt-in Form
Next, you will design the form that will be displayed to users.
- Click Edit on your new shortcode.

- Click Add Form, give the form a name, and click Edit Design.

- Click on ‘Edit’ icon to edit the design, choose a template from the library. Customize the text and images to inform users that they will unlock the hidden content by subscribing.

- Connect the form to your autoresponder by selecting the Lead Generation element and setting up an API connection. This feature will not work with HTML autoresponder code.

- Click Save Work.
Step 3: Set the Lock Mode and Copy the Shortcode
Before adding the shortcode to your content, you can choose how the content will be hidden.
- In the Thrive Leads dashboard, find your content locking shortcode.

- Use the Lock Mode dropdown to choose one of the following options:
- Hide: The content will be completely hidden.
- Blur: The content will be blurred, giving users a preview of what they will unlock. (This is not supported in Internet Explorer)

- Copy the shortcode to your clipboard.
Step 4: Add the Shortcode to Your Content
Finally, you will add the shortcode to the page or post where you want to hide content.
- Open the page or post in Thrive Architect.

- The shortcode has two parts:
Invalid shortcode parameters
) in a Text element just before the content you want to hide.Paste it in a Text element just after the content you want to hide. Save the page.
When a visitor views the page, the content between the two parts of the shortcode will be hidden or blurred, depending on the Lock Mode you selected. After they subscribe, the content will be revealed. The content will remain unlocked for that user on subsequent visits to the page.
