What is a WordPress Multisite?
A multisite network allows you to create and manage multiple WordPress websites from a single admin dashboard. The entire network can be managed by a Super Admin, while the individual websites are managed by a Site Admin.
Only the Super Admin can install plugins and themes at the network level and make them available to all the subsites. Site Admins can only configure them on their respective websites.
You can refer to WPBeginner’s complete guide to multisite which will help you understand the working of this setup and the permissions that each user role gets.
Downloading the Thrive Product Manager Plugin
In order to install the Thrive products, we’ll first need to download the Thrive Product Manager from your Thrive account. This product manager gives you access to all the Thrive products you’ve purchased.
To get started, log in to your Thrive account. Once you log in, you’ll be taken to the Member dashboard.
Under the first step, click on the Thrive Product Manager plugin link.
Note: In some cases, this file may unzip as you download it, and instead appear as a regular folder. However, the folder must be zipped to use the WordPress plugin uploader.
For more details on how to zip and unzip files, be sure to check out these guides for Windows and Mac operating systems.
Installing Thrive Product Manager on Your Multisite Network
Before we begin, let’s assume you’ve already set up a multisite network.
To install the Thrive Product Manager plugin, click on My Sites in the WordPress toolbar and then Network Admin >> Dashboard.
Once you’re in the admin dashboard, we can start with the plugin installation. First, navigate to Plugins >> Add New. Then, click on the Upload Plugin button.
Next, click on Choose File and select the zip file you downloaded from your Thrive Account.
After adding the file, click on the Install Now button.
You have now installed the Thrive Product Manager plugin on your multisite network.
Activating Thrive Products for All Subsites in the Network
After installation, it is now time to activate the plugin on your subsites. In this section, we’ll see how we can activate the plugins for all your subsites at the same time.
Immediately after plugin installation, you’ll be taken to a screen that lets you activate the plugin across the network. On this screen, click on the Network Activate button.
If you already have the plugin installed and missed this step, here’s what to do instead. First, in the top menu click on My Sites >> Network Admin >> Dashboard. Then in the left sidebar menu, click on Plugins>> Installed Plugins.
You can then click on the Network Activate link under the plugin name.
Activating the plugin across the network means that the Thrive Product Manager plugin can now be configured across all subsites in the network.
Setting Up Thrive Products on Subsites
Network activation gives Site Admins the ability to set up Thrive Products on each of their subsites.
This can be done by opening the dashboard for an individual subsite. To do this, navigate to Sites >> All Sites through the top admin menu.
In the sites list, hover on the subsite where you’d like to use a Thrive plugin and click on Dashboard.
You’ll be taken to the dashboard of the subsite you selected. From the subsite dashboard, click on Product Manager in the left admin menu. This is where you’ll need to log into your Thrive Themes account.
Now that you’ve logged in, you should see all the Thrive plugins and the Thrive Theme Builder.
You can install one plugin at a time or everything that you plan to use on your WordPress site.
Go ahead and check the Install Product option for each plugin you’d like to install.
Once you’ve checked every plugin you want to use, click on the Install selected products button at the bottom of the page.
It’ll now take a few seconds to process. You’ll see a confirmation screen when done.
The plugin is now installed and ready to use on this subsite.
Notes: You’ll need to repeat the steps above if you’d like to configure a Thrive plugin on any other subsite in the network.
Also, you’ll need to log into your Thrive account through every subsite you wish to use a Thrive Plugin on. If you’d like to deactivate your license on a specific subsite, you can do that by following this article.
That’s it! You’re now all set to use Thrive Products on a WordPress multisite network.
