How to Use Signup Segue in Thrive Leads

Would you like to register people to your list, or as WordPress users, with a single click instead of a form? In this guide, we cover how to build a Signup Segue in Thrive Leads: a one-click link you can drop into an email, a button, or a campaign to sign people up instantly, with no opt-in form involved. All you need is Thrive Leads installed and activated on your WordPress site.

Opening the Signup Segue Tab

  1. Go to Thrive Leads » My Forms.
  2. Select the Signup Segue tab.

The My Forms page in Thrive Leads with the Signup Segue tab selected, alongside Lead Groups, Lead Shortcodes, and ThriveBoxes.

Creating a New Signup Segue

  1. Click Create New Signup Segue.
  2. Under Name your new Signup Segue, type a name to identify it by.
  3. Click Create and Add Connection.

The Create New Signup Segue modal's Name step, with a field for naming the new Signup Segue and Create and Exit / Create and Add Connection buttons.

Connecting a Service

A new Signup Segue starts with no connections added yet. Signup Segue links register users automatically, so you need to connect it to an email service or to WordPress itself before it will do anything.

  1. Click Add connection.
  2. Use the Choose a connection dropdown to select an existing API connection, such as Email, ActiveCampaign, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, Brevo, or your WordPress account. You can also click add a new integration if the service you want isn’t listed yet.

Choosing a Role for WordPress Account Connections

If you choose WordPress account as the connection, visitors who click your Signup Segue link are registered as WordPress users on your site rather than added to an email list.

  1. Use the Choose the role which should be assigned to your subscribers dropdown to pick a role, such as Author, Contributor, or Subscriber.
  2. Click Add Connection.

Note: You can click Add new connection afterward to connect more than one service to the same Signup Segue link.

Setting Up the Redirect

  1. Click Save & Go to Redirects.
  2. Under Redirect Type, choose Single Redirect to send every visitor to the same destination after signup.
  3. Under Redirect to, choose Site Content to pick an existing page or post from your site, or Custom URL to send visitors to any other address.

The Redirect step set to Single Redirect, with Site Content selected and a page chosen from the site content search field.

Using Conditional Redirects for Time-Sensitive Events

If you’re using the link for something time-sensitive, like a webinar or a product launch, choose Conditional Redirect instead. This sends visitors to different destinations depending on when they click the link relative to your event.

The Redirect Type dropdown set to Conditional Redirect, showing the Before event section expanded with Site Content and Custom URL options.

  1. Under Before event, choose where visitors who click the link before the event starts should be redirected.
  2. Under During event, set Start date, Start time, and Duration for the event, then choose where visitors who click while the event is live should be redirected.
  3. Under After event, choose where visitors who click after the event ends should be redirected.

The three collapsed Conditional Redirect sections: Before event, During event, and After event, each with a short description of when it applies.

  1. Click Finish setup.

A confirmation screen shows your finished link, along with a summary of what happens when someone visits it: they click the link, they’re automatically subscribed to your connected services, and they’re redirected to your selected destination.

  1. Click Copy Signup Link to copy it to your clipboard.
Note: The link includes tl_name=[name] and tl_email=[email] placeholders in its query string, so you can merge in a recipient’s name and email address when you use it in an email campaign.

Managing an Existing Signup Segue

Back on the Signup Segue tab, each link you’ve created shows its signup count, connected service, and status.

  • Click Copy link to copy the signup URL again at any time.
  • Click Redirect settings to reopen and change where the link sends visitors.
  • Click the menu button (â‹®) to Rename the Signup Segue, Reset stats, or Delete signup segue.

That’s it! You now know how to build a Signup Segue link, connect it to an email service or WordPress, set up a single or time-based redirect, and manage it afterward.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a Signup Segue and a regular opt-in form?

An opt-in form asks a visitor to type in their details before submitting. A Signup Segue is a single link: clicking it registers the visitor to your connected service immediately, with no form to fill out.

Can a Signup Segue register someone as a WordPress user instead of an email subscriber?

Yes. Choose WordPress account as the connection and pick a role, such as Subscriber, and visitors who click the link are registered as WordPress users with that role.

What happens if I delete a Signup Segue?

Deleting a Signup Segue permanently removes the one-click link and all of its associated statistics. This cannot be undone, so anyone who has already saved or bookmarked the old link will find it no longer works.

Do I have to use a Conditional Redirect?

No. Single Redirect is the default and sends every visitor to the same destination. Conditional Redirect is only useful when you want different destinations depending on whether someone clicks before, during, or after a scheduled event.
