How to Use Smart Links in Thrive Leads

Would you like to stop showing signup forms to people who already subscribed? In this guide, we will walk you through building a Smart Link in Thrive Leads, step by step, that controls which opt-in forms a visitor sees when they click it. All you need is Thrive Leads installed and activated on your WordPress site.

  1. Go to Thrive Leads » Advanced Features » Smart Links.

A modal opens with four steps for building your link.

The Thrive Leads Smart Links modal, showing steps for choosing a destination, which forms it affects, what happens on arrival, and how long the behavior lasts.

  1. Under Where should this link go?, choose Site Content to send visitors to an existing page or post on your site, or choose Custom URL to send them to any other address.
  2. If you chose Site Content, use the search field below it to find the page or post.
  1. Under Which forms should it affect?, choose All forms on my site to apply the rule across every Lead Group, Shortcode, ThriveBox, and Signup Segue, or choose Specific Lead Groups only to limit it to the groups you select.

Setting What Happens on Arrival

  1. Under What should happen on arrival?, use the dropdown to choose the behavior for visitors who click the link, such as Hide all forms so they no longer see signup forms once they arrive.

Setting How Long the Behavior Lasts

  1. Under How long should this behavior last for?, choose how long the hidden-forms behavior should stick for that visitor after they click the link.

That’s it! You now have a Smart Link ready to share with visitors you do not want to see your opt-in forms again. Next, see how to use Lead Groups if you want to control the same kind of visibility at the group level instead of through a shareable link.

Frequently Asked Questions

A common use is including a Smart Link in an email to existing subscribers, so that clicking it takes them to your site without showing them the same signup forms they have already responded to.

No. A Smart Link changes what a specific visitor experiences after clicking it. The underlying forms, their Display Rules, and their Lead Group assignments are not modified.
