Would you like a popup that only appears when a visitor clicks a specific button or link, instead of one governed by page load or scroll rules? In this guide, we will walk you through setting up display rules for a ThriveBox in Thrive Leads, step by step. All you need is a ThriveBox already created in Thrive Leads.
Why ThriveBox Display Rules Work Differently
Regular Thrive Leads forms use a full Display Rules tab with “When,” position, and device visibility settings. A ThriveBox skips all of that, because it never displays on its own. Instead, it only appears when a visitor triggers it by clicking a button or link you connect to it elsewhere on your site.
Finding Your ThriveBox’s Trigger Link
- Go to Thrive Leads » My Forms and select the ThriveBoxes tab.

- Click Copy link in the Trigger Link column to copy the ThriveBox’s unique trigger URL to your clipboard.
- Paste that link as the destination of any button or link elsewhere on your site (for example, a button built in Thrive Architect) to make that element open the ThriveBox when clicked.
Setting the Entrance Animation
- Click the arrow beside the ThriveBox’s name to expand it, then open the form inside it.
- Select the Display Rules tab in the form editor.

Unlike a regular form, a ThriveBox’s Display Rules tab only contains one setting: the entrance animation used when the box appears.
- Click the Form animation dropdown to choose how the box enters the screen when triggered.

- Select Instant, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Rotational, or one of the Slide in from options.
- Click Save changes in the top right corner.
That’s it! You now know how to connect a trigger to your ThriveBox and set its entrance animation. Next, take a look at how to get started with Thrive Leads if you still need to design the ThriveBox’s contents.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn’t my ThriveBox have a “When” or position setting?
ThriveBoxes only open in response to a trigger link or button you place elsewhere on the page, so they don’t need the page-load timing or on-page position settings that regular forms use.
Can I add a ThriveBox to a Lead Group?
The ThriveBoxes tab on the My Forms screen is separate from the Lead Groups tab, and a ThriveBox is managed and triggered independently rather than through a Lead Group’s page-targeting conditions.
