  • Ed A says:

Saw your email today. I’m in the middle of building a site that needs this gallery function using your Minus theme. How can I get the upgrade quickly?

    • Shane Melaugh says:

The updates are available immediately. The easiest way to update is through the WordPress admin panel. In Dashboard -> Updates you’ll find the option to update the theme.

  • Lewis E says:

Nice, clean, and so much better than the WordPress one!

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Thank you, Lewis!

  • John K says:

    Looks pretty slick! Thanks Shane!

    • Shane Melaugh says:

Thank you for the comment, John! Glad you like it. :)

  • Larry M says:

Shane – or anyone else. Once I login to Thrive Themes, where do I download all 4 themes to my desktop in order to get the new image update from today (4/4/13). I see where I can download each theme by itself, but is there a place to download all 4 together at the same time. Thanks

    • Shane Melaugh says:

We don’t have a bundled download available, unfortunately.

But keep in mind that the easiest way to update the themes is through the WP admin panel of a site where a theme is already installed. You’ll get an update notification and can update with just a few clicks. :)

  • Dirk says:

Hi Shane. It looks very slick! I’m hesitating to show it to people who are waiting for the thrive themes to launch again…. Q: when when when?

    • Shane Melaugh says:

We’re getting closer. We’ll re-open when the next theme is available and we’re not far from completing that, now.

  • Graeme says:

What a great edition to Thrive. I’ve been researching plugins for real estate listings and finding that the plugins are sadly lacking the simplicity Thrive is adding.
What would help would be the ability to add descriptions or tag lines to the photos.
    Any chance of this happening?

Ps can you please answer my support question regarding which license would be needed. The real estate company is one I could persuade to use Thrive especially with this gallery enhancement!

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Hello Graeme,

You can add captions to the images in the gallery, but they only how up in lightbox mode (i.e. when you’re looking at the large version of the images).

I’ll check your support request and reply there, too.

      • Graeme C says:

        Hi Shane,
I’ve added captions and descriptions to the media but they don’t show in the lightbox view – any reason? – using Focus 1.2

        My test page –

Also my question regarding license remains unanswered in the support forum

      • Graeme C says:

Have found the caption info on the lightbox at the bottom of the screen

  • Bev S says:

Hi Shane, I gather from your video above that this super addition is already available when we log in to any of the thrive themes? Is this correct?
Thanks again for a high quality product.

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Yes, that’s correct.

  • Scott R says:

Shane, what is the best practices if I am planning to have several images on each blog post: should I bulk upload the the WP media library and then select for each blog post, or do people just add photos to the blog post as writing them. I’m unsure how/where WP puts them. And are there any SEO considerations other than optimizing the metadata before uploads.

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Hi Scott,

WordPress stores all your images in the media library, so if you upload them all at once, they should still be easy to find when you click on the “Add Media” button in the post editor.

I usually work like this: as I’m writing the post, I will make a note anywhere I think an image should be added. For example, on a blank line, I’ll write:

      “IMAGE (illustration of xyz)”

It’s like a placeholder for the image, plus a note about what I had in mind.

Then, when the text is finished, I go through and start creating/adding the images one by one.

  • Bo says:

    Love the video update..

We need a theme that comes with comparison charts!! I know you can do it :)

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Hi Bo,

      What are we comparing?

We have a reviews feature in the pipeline, which will allow comparisons between reviewed products. Although this feature is quite far down the queue, so don’t hold your breath for it.

  • Joop L says:

    Nice feature Shane.

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Thank you, Joop!

  • Ted Navickas says:

Hi Shane nice update , have question for you , is it possible to change the language of theme all header and side column navigation to other language or to change language I need to hire someone to translate the whole theme ? Thanks.

  • michel says:

I like you adding new futures to the themes. Thanks for that.

What I do NOT like is the fact, that I have to upload the updated theme again and again. With some other (premium) themes I can actualize the theme within wordpress, which is MUCH FASTER. As speed is an important quality for thrive themes, please consider this possibility. THANKS.

  • Harvey says:

Wow! Loving the fact that I invested in your BIG package for Thrive themes. Can’t wait to add this to my site! Still waiting for more font options, is this in the queue? Thanks!

    • Shane Melaugh says:

Yes, we’ve got a completely new font manager in development. As part of that, we’ll also add new headline customization options to the Content Builder and the themes.

  • Gregory B says:

You guys are great. This is just what I was looking for, as I am a photographer.

  • Dan says:

Gallery works only in Post, How if I wanted this to work in a page?

  • Herman says:

Do you have a recommendation for displaying youtube videos in multiple rows on a web page?

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Hello Herman,

Nothing comes to mind, I’m afraid. Short of building the layout manually, that is.

What you can do is use the “video” post format in one of our themes that supports post formats. This will display playable videos in your blog view. But it requires that each video you want to display is set up as a blog post with the video format and I’m not sure if that’s what you had in mind.

  • John Hanna says:

What is the largest file size that a photo should be loaded into the gallery? When the page showing thumb nails opens, will it be really slow if the images are uploaded at around 1 mb or does that page open with a reduced file size being thumb nails. Thanks for your great products, has literally changed my life.

    • Shane Melaugh says:

The gallery shows the images at the largest size they can be fit onto the screen. I recommend you treat images in the gallery the same way you treat any image on the website: you want to find a balance between uploading a large and high-quality image and keeping the image file size as small as possible.

  • Michael C says:

    This is very, very nice.

  • Roy T says:

Would love to watch this video. Wistia has been terrible for my network and computer. Always stuttering and un watchable. I’ve set it to always SD and reset everything I can. Any other access pathways to Thrive videos please? — Roy

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Hello Roy,

Sorry to hear about the Wistia issues. We don’t have a different version of this video, unfortunately. Our more recent videos are available on our YouTube channel, though.

  • Siti Zubeidah B says:

Does this feature work with the thrive content builder as well? I cant seem to add a gallery via mages

    • You can create the gallery by using the WordPress content element, and then adding the gallery as you would usually in the WordPress editor. The shortcode preview will be rendered in the editor and you can drag and drop live.

  • Chencho says:

    Not in theme builder??

  • A couple of questions… 1. When i am viewing a gallery on a smartphone in landscape, the images stretch to fill the screen, they are ok in portrait though. Why is this?

    2. when I add a galley to a post and then edit in TCB I can’t add any elements below the galley only above. I can edit the post in wordpress as normal and add elements below the gallery but not in TCB,

  • Rick N says:

Is this available for all themes? I think it should be…

  • Andre says:

Shane, PLEASE add a proper gallery function into TCB, so that we can just drag it onto the page. One that can handle different layouts, images and video and hopefully a Youtube Channel. I’ve looked at a number of plugins and they are overly complex, ridiculously priced or downright boring.

  • Prashanth V says:

Look very clean & crisp, much better than the default WordPress gallery view. Is it possible to add video thumbnails clicking on which must play the video in the lightbox view?

    • Shane Melaugh says:

We don’t have a feature for videos in a lightbox yet, no.

  • Gareth says:

This is great. And I have set this up. But it doesn’t seem possible to create it in the actual thrive content builder. Is this the case?

  • Stanculescu George says:

    doesn’t work on Rise theme

  • Daisy L says:

One of my sites is a member site with students. The students are always free to post and share things (Like in our forum) but is there a way for our students to add things to the thrive gallery? Or is that something only admin would have permission to do?

  • Anna C says:

Hi Shane. Can you confirm if the images automatically get compressed using this method. I am uploading photos in a travel gallery and all images are around 2MB. Not the best for SEO load times but don’t really want to go through and compress all images in another folder prior to uploading….

  • Rinaldo says:

Is it possible to have a featured image and the images to be changing sort of in a slideshow fashion automatically?

Can that be tweaked somewhere or built somehow using tcb?

I really need this on my website…

  • Sonjoy Pall says:

This is very easy and nice share. But How can I Set a custom gallery for all pages and post over the footer option? I am rise theme user

  • abhishek says:

shane not able to use this feature on my page. my thrive architect is updated. do i need any specific plugin for nicefied galleries as the problem with wordpress galleries not gettin rectified
    please help

    • Shane Melaugh says:

Hello. This is a feature in our themes, not in Thrive Architect. Sorry about the confusion. Any gallery you add in Thrive Architect will use your theme’s gallery styles.
