Revision Manager Added to Thrive Content Builder

In the latest version of Thrive Content Builder and Landing Pages, we have integrated with the WordPress revision manager.

This means you can create content without worrying about mishaps inadvertently causing loss of content that you've spent time to create.

How the Revision Manager Works

In the latest version of Thrive Content Builder, you will notice a clock icon with an arrow pointing anti-clockwise:

Clicking on this will open up the revision manager in a light box:-

The revision list is sorted from top to bottom, so your current revision is at the top of the list and the older revisions are displayed the further down the list you go.

Simply click on the "Restore this Revision" button to reload and the version will be rolled back!

Revision Manager Frequently Asked Questions

  • The revision manager isn't currently built in to Thrive Leads yet, although we are working on a solution for this in the near future.
  • The revision manager is NOT an autosave feature! New revisions are only stored when you save your work progress, either using the Ctrl+S keyboard shortcut or by clicking the big, green "Save Changes" button in the editor.

I’ve just purchased your membership package, and I am so glad I did! Content Builder is awesome, and I’ve tried them all, really. You really deliver on your promise of speed, both in terms of UI, and the general snapiness :-). And the constant flow of new features is really exciting.

    • Hello Marcin – thank you for your positive feedback. I’ll show this comment to the developers in the morning.

  • Gio says:

    Hi Paul,

will this new feature respect this htaccess rule? (I guess it will but not sure)

    define( ‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’, 3);

    • Hello Gio – I haven’t tested this personally but I believe our team did check this.

Given that it’s integrated directly with the WordPress Revision Manager through the API, I would strongly suspect that it does respect those rules.

  • Paul D says:

Awesome. Major restore of revisions like this are great. Good job!

    I have one request:

I would really like a simple undo feature (ctrl/cmd Z). At present, if I want simply to undo a minor change I made, to text, for example, I cannot do it. The edit, undo feature on WordPress does not work with the content builder. Any chance we can have this?

    • We do have an undo manager already built into The Content Builder (as shown here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RSEVlyQDr8) however the algorithm needs some fine tuning – it can certainly be improved.

      • Paul Dunstan says:

Thanks so much Paul. I simply cannot understand why I have never noticed those buttons!

  • Steve Cockrane says:

    Paul,
I am so glad to see this new feature, especially as I lost an entire page I was working on by accidentally pushing the ‘Revert To Theme’ button just last week!
You guys just keep rolling out the awesomeness.
    Steve

    • Hello Steve – yes there were a few threads in the forum where people had lost their work from this action and that’s what triggered prioritising this integration. It was always on our list, but it got bumped to the top.

      Thanks for the positive comments.

  • Lorenzo D says:

Well done then! I really like how you are constantly updating and improving your product. Please keep going, you are doing great work.

  • Juan says:

Not sure why but my versions are not auto updating – tried clearing cache but no new version.

  • Klaus S says:

Again an excellent addition to the TCB – strengthen your absolute leader position as the best content builder on the market. Very helpful and many thanks for it!

  • Jan N says:

    • Thanks for the positive feedback, Jan – very glad to hear that you’re happy with your purchase!

  • Hi Paul,
A feature that is truly welcome , is there the opportunity to do a little adjustment with a back button? Succes with the development of Thrive Themes!!

  • Sara C says:

    Hi
first of all thank you for the great products.
I have been reading around and I have seen that, disabling the automated saving in WP, can help with the speed of the site/s.
So my question is would this added feature potentially slow doe the site as it stores more data? Would it work if I disable the automated WP saving process?
    Thank you and happy Easter

    • Shane Melaugh says:

      Hi Sara,

I’ve encountered this claim as well. The idea is that the bigger your database is, the slower the site will be.

I’m no expert on this, but I suspect that it only matters for very large databases and that for most websites, whether or not a few additional post revisions are stored won’t make a difference.

  • Chik Q says:

This is such a great new feature.

I tell you, you guys keep blowing me away with your updates and great support. I’m getting better and better every time I use your tools and the output and results reflect that. Keep up the great work!

Paul, I found this 2 hours ago! I’d lost the code for a chat box and I had spent hours looking for the right code to embed. The revisions were just a godsend, I still wasted an hour on Google until I discovered the revisions

    Hey,

Revision Manage is not working and I have no idea why. If I want to restore a revision I always see these green dots for loading. Unfortunately nothing happens. Is is possible to export this data and import my page?
