About Will

William Palmer
Marketer | Writer | CROer

When William was trying to build his first WordPress website back in 2013, he’d have never believed he’d be working for a WordPress software company.

Why?

Well, building websites can be pretty frustrating!

Unleashing the Marketing Ideas Trapped Within

Now the content marketing manager at Thrive Themes, he’s got a little secret to share.

He still finds the technical parts incredibly frustrating sometimes.

For him, the tech is the vehicle to drive connections, to use the power of marketing and the magic of words to inspire action.

So, he might well be just like you - someone constantly looking for the most efficient ways to unleash those marketing ideas trapped within his mind.

The Things William Loves to Talk Aabout
  • Transactional content marketing: Making sure there’s a purpose to every piece of content, not just publishing to tick a box.
  • Copywriting with intent: Recognizing that every line you write has a purpose and a goal.
  • Making web design easy: Opening up web design to everybody so they can take control of their marketing strategies.
  • Keeping things simple in marketing: People love to overcomplicate, and then get bogged down in self doubt and inaction. Recognize that you can have great success by keeping things simple.
Educational and Professional Experience:

William was drawn to the world of online marketing through writing.

While his educational background is in political science and communications, it was always the written elements that got his creative instincts flowing. It was summed up by his dissertation professor commenting “you’re an incredible writer, but it’s a little bit wasted in this setting.”

Eventually he found the setting where he could express all the ideas he had in his head, and it led him on some incredible journeys.

First as a writer for some of the biggest names in the digital marketing world, then, as a marketing consultant, and now with Thrive Themes.

But after all that, if you ever ask him his top marketing tips, he’s going to tell you something very boring.

Keep it simple and be consistent!
