A Page and its Purpose: When to Use Landing Pages and When to Use Themes

Thrive Content Builder and Thrive Landing pages have been replaced by Thrive Architect, which now has 271 pre-designed page templates and you can preview them all in our landing pages gallery.

Update #2, March 2020:

Thrive Themes legacy themes have been replaced by Thrive Theme Builder, the best way to visually design high converting WordPress themes with complete control over your site. Thrive Theme Builder works in perfect harmony with Thrive Architect to give you unparalleled control over your entire site, from your marketing landing pages to your sidebars and 404s, you’ll never have to worry about WordPress design restrictions again.

With our new Landing Pages feature, it's easier than ever to create conversion optimized pages... which might lead to the question: do you even need a theme anymore (especially considering that we'll continue adding new page templates for different purposes)?

In this post, you'll discover the difference between landing pages and theme pages, so you'll know exactly when to use which, for the best results.

Cloning Posts & Pages with 1 Click

Since day one, Thrive Themes have featured a great time-saving addition that you might have missed up until now. The feature in question is one click cloning.

In this post, you'll discover how the feature works and see some examples of how you can use it to your advantage.

Note: the feature shown here is a theme feature. It is only available when you have a Thrive Theme installed. If you use Thrive Architect or other plugins made by Thrive Themes, but a different theme, you won't see the "clone" link as shown below.

How NOT to Use Progress Bars & Counters

This post is a public service announcement. We must stop the widespread abuse of progress bars and animated counters and only YOU can make a difference!

We recently introduced progress bars, animated counters and fill counters as new design elements (short codes) in all our themes. These elements can be useful additions to a conversion-focused website, but they can also be horribly mis-used. In fact, I have so far almost exclusively seen really, really bad examples of how to implement these elements on sites and landing pages.

Watch the video below to see the common mistakes you need to avoid (and what to do instead):

Seamless Short Codes in the Content Builder

Thrive Content Builder comes loaded with an ever growing number of elements that you can use to create rich, engaging and high-converting posts and pages. But what if you want to add an element from outside the Content Builder, such as a short code provided by your theme or a different plugin?

While Content Builder has always worked with short codes, in our latest update, we’ve improved the way you can add short code elements to your content. Watch this video to see how the new feature works:

Add Urgency to Your Landing Pages With the Countdown Timer Element

The basic countdown feature shown in this post is still available in Thrive Content Builder. In addition, you can now also get a complete and highly advanced scarcity marketing suite with Thrive Ultimatum.

The countdown timer is a new Thrive Content Builder element that is deceptively simple. But don’t let the simplicity fool you: this single element can light a fire under your conversion rates and have a very real impact on your bottom line.

Check out this quick video demo to see what it’s all about:

New Table of Contents Element

We’ve just added a new element to the Thrive Content Builder which is perfect for your long content pieces and epic posts. Not only does this element make your content easier to navigate through and increase your visitor’s engagement, it’s also really easy to implement.

How to Build a Better 404 Page

Update for March, 2020: With the release of Thrive Theme Builder, you now have total control over your 404 pages along with your sidebars, widget areas, footers, and more. Thrive Theme Builder is the first truly drag-and-drop WordPress theme builder on the market and gives you unparalleled design freedom for your entire site. Get inspired by the best 404 pages, and start building yours.

Your "page not found" 404 page is one only a small fraction of your visitors will ever see. It's still a page that can be worth optimizing, though and since it represents an error, it's a great opportunity to help your poor, lost visitors out and re-engage them.

In today's video, you'll get a quick tour through a new option added to all Thrive Themes plus 3 suggestions on how to build a better 404 error page.
